Programma sintetico del corso:

Recent technological advances in computation and communication have made it possible to improve the control of distributed systems. These systems are made of a large number of entities that collaborate to perform a global task. Distributed control is preferable, since it provides scalability, reduction of computational load and fault resiliency. Moreover it is more robust with respect to the limitations in communication, networking and sensing capabilities, which are common in distributed systems. Distributed systems have a broad range of applications such as air traffic management systems, traffic control systems, unmanned vehicle control, energy system management and logistics. This course will review fundamental issues and the state of the art in modeling and control of networked distributed control systems. In particular the following topics will be addressed in the course: distributed control and estimation for networked systems, distributed control under limited communication and computation resources, and multi-agent systems.
