PERSONAL DATA AND ACADEMIC POSITION
Walter D'Ambrogio, born in Vallecorsa (FR) on 2.06.1959, graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 at the University of Rome La Sapienza. From 1985 to 1988, he completed his Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics at the same University, earning his degree in 1989. His research and teaching activity was carried out until October 1992 at the Department of Mechanics and Aeronautics of the University of Rome La Sapienza with the following qualifications:
• Assistant Professor since August 1989
Since November 1992, the research and teaching activity has been held at the DIMEG (Department of Mechanical, Energy and Management Engineering, former Department of Energy) of the University of L'Aquila with the following qualifications:
• Associate Professor of Applied Mechanics since November 1992
• Full Professor of Applied Mechanics since September 2000

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
He is the author of about 180 journal and conference papers on topics related to dynamic analysis of mechanical systems and modal analysis, and more specifically on vibration control, parametric identification of mechanical structures (dynamic model updating), substructuring and coupling, on the effect of uncertainties on the dynamics of structures, on friction induced vibrations. He has an H-index=18 evaluated by Scopus.

He was the scientific coordinator of the national research project ‘Structural vibration control through modal techniques and specifically developed materials’, funded by PRIN 2001.
He participated in the European program 'COST F3 Action in Structural Dynamics, Working Group 1: Finite Element Model Updating Methods'.
Staff member (2004-2006) in the international cooperation program `Applied reserach and education in bioengineering' within P.O.I. ‘Disposizioni per la partecipazione italiana alla stabilizzazione, alla ricostruzione e allo sviluppo dei Paesi dell’area balcanica’, funded by the Abruzzo Region..
He organized the Special Session on Experimental Dynamic Substructuring within the International Congress ISMA 2010: International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering.
He organized the Special Session on Friction Induced Vibrations within ISMA 2014: International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering.
He is member of the IFToMM Technical Committee for Vibrations, formerly Technical Committee for Nonlinear Oscillations.
He is President of the Italian Association for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (AIMETA), an adhering organization to IUTAM (International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics).
